EMPLOYMENT
Part-Time School Social Worker
Walden Green Montessori in Spring Lake, Michigan is seeking a part-time school social worker to join our educational team. In this role, the contracted school social worker will perform the following duties:

Support students’ academic and emotional success by providing direct counseling, developing behavioral interventions, and connecting families with essential resources to overcome barriers to learning.

Serve on the IEP (Individualized Education Program) team, providing mandated social work services and evaluating social and emotional development.

As needed, assess urgent safety and mental health concerns, including self-harm, trauma, or abuse.

Assist teachers in implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).

Conduct assessments/evaluations to identify underlying barriers to a student's education.

When feasible, participate in “high-need” IEP or 504 Plan meetings.

“Lunch Bunch” Tier II Intervention (small group model focused on developing interpersonal skills with 2-6 students - once a week).
Qualifications and Skills:

Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a college or university accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

Valid Limited License Master of Social Work (LLMSW) or a full Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) through the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).

Approval from the MDE to practice in the state's educational settings.

Proven experience working with children or in an educational setting (especially those with autism spectrum disorders, emotional disabilities, or trauma).

Strong crisis management and conflict resolution skills.

Highly Desired Traits: A naturally positive, encouraging, and collaborative demeanor with a high level of patience and empathy.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with lead teachers, students, and parents.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Other Details:

Part-Time: 3-5 hours per week.

Required: fingerprinting, yearly background checks, training - provided by WGM (i.e. mandated reporter, child abuse/neglect, emergency preparedness, food allergies/epipens, first aid/CPR).
